Q: Does the price change if my inventory changes?
A: A guaranteed price is based on a guaranteed inventory. If the inventory changes, it is your responsibility to contact your sales rep and adjust the agreement to reflect the updated inventory. The inventory should be finalized prior to three business days before the move.
Q: How is Flatrate different than other companies?
A: Many companies discourage or even refuse to give a guaranteed price. Flatrate only offers a guaranteed price. This encourages the salesmen to gather a comprehensive inventory, and encourages the customer to be thorough in listing his inventory. When a company does not guarantee their price, there is no incentive for the moving company to gather a fully comprehensive inventory - if fact, there is a disincentive, as the starting price sounds lower than it will be and therefore more attractive, and the final higher price is blamed on the increased inventory not disclosed by the customer.
Q: Why should I go with Flatrate when an hourly rate company gave me an estimate 15% less than the one you gave me?
A: Ask the hourly rate company to guarantee the price – otherwise, the price you received is non-binding, and can fluctuate up or down. Usually, the amount indeed does fluctuate, and it tends to fluctuate higher more frequently than lower. Much more frequently.
Q: It says you provide wardrobe boxes for the duration of the move free of charge. Does that mean it is free to move a wardrobe box?
A: For certain items commonly moved but hard to find protective boxes that fit, Flatrate will provide a box on the day of the move at no extra charge, however, Flatrate still does charge to move those items.
Q: So is packing and the boxes included in the price?
A: No, only packing and materials for specific items (lamps, wardrobe boxes, electronics, and pictures) and of course, quilting and securing the furniture. We do offer packing services and we do sell boxes, but that incurs an additional cost. For a full packing offer, we do recommend an onsite estimate, which we will provide free of charge.

Q: When my friends moved my apartment last time, it took the same amount of time or less than what Flatrate expects to do it. Shouldn’t Flatrate be quicker than my friends?
A: Flatrate is a professional moving company, and therefore insists on quilting and securing the furniture before putting it on the truck, in order to minimize risk to the furniture. This adds time.
Q: Is your moving company licensed?
A: We are a fully licensed company, regulated by the California State Public Utilities Commission (PUC) (PUC T #0190171). Long distance / Interstate is licensed and regulated by the Interstate Commerce Commission (ICC MC-254356). We are members of the Better Business Bureau. In fact, FlatRate is in the top 5 percent of companies with the lowest number of BBB complaints. For more information, please call the BBB at 909.825.7280.
Q: How much will my move cost?
A: FlatRate moving system developed a totally new concept, offering customers an all-inclusive, guaranteed, one-price move. A FlatRate Relocation Consultant will give you an estimate, which will become your actual bill in the end. There are no hidden fees tacked on your bill after the move.
Q: Is there an additional charge for travel time while moving?
A: There is no additional charge for travel time to or from your destination, and no charge for tolls.
Q: How long does a typical move take?
A: With a Flatrate pricing, there is no incentive for the movers to prolong the move, nor is there an additional charge if it takes longer than expected. This is a major benefit in terms of peace of mind on the moving day.
