Five Ways to Relax and Enjoy Your New Home on Day One

So you moved today. On your first night in your new home, after a long day of moving, it’s time to relax and get in touch with your new digs. Here’s how to unwind, even when you haven’t unpacked, from your friends at Zeel, the Massage On Demand company.

Order in

After a long day of packing and unpacking, you probably aren’t in the mood to cook (and most likely you haven’t even unearthed your pots and pans or had time to go shopping). But you probably are hungry! Treat yourself by ordering in from your favorite place, or hop online or on your phone to rustle up an on-demand meal. Other services available on demand by app include massage for post-move de-stressing (ahem), liquor delivery for a relaxing toast to your new home, and cleaning to scour away the dust and cobwebs in Chez You.

Pack a first night kit

Let’s face it, unless you’re an outlier on the proactivity spectrum, you probably aren’t going to unpack all your boxes and bags right away.  So make sure you have one box or suitcase marked and designated for your first night – include things like toiletries, sheets, cups and utensils, a change of clothing, and perhaps a blanket for an impromptu indoor picnic.

Watch a movie

Your cable isn’t set up.  Neither is WiFi.  No problem!  You were smart enough to bring DVDs.  Why not relax and enjoy a moving theme film night?  Some options include Toy Story, The Odd Couple, Coming to America and The Beverly Hillbillies. Even Twilight would work (at least for this purpose).

Explore your new neighborhood

Go on a walk and get acquainted with your new surroundings. Things will start to feel less overwhelming once you recognize your surroundings a bit more. This is an opportunity to find a cute little coffee shop, or a park you can exercise in every morning.  You might even meet some neighbors.

Get some rest

Relax!  You can tackle all your to-dos tomorrow. Take a hot bath, put on your sweatpants and get a good night’s sleep, secure in the knowledge that your move is safely completed.
