There’s no better time to be proud of who we are than Pride month and there’s no place to celebrate our differences like New York City. Home of the queers and the freaks, NYC comes alive in June when we get to embrace love in its purest form. Over the years, FlatRate has been a proud sponsor of the Pride March and a steady supporter of the LGBTQ community — continuing to recognize its importance and impact on the city’s essence.

One of the most LGBTQ-friendly places in the world, New York plays a significant role in the acceptance of the gay community. According to Curbed NY, neighborhoods like the Greenwich Village hold tons of historical significance in the gay liberation movement as the home of the nation’s largest concentration of LGBTQ historic sites and organizations. A catalyst in the city, Greenwich Village has paved the way over the years for other neighborhoods like Chelsea and Hell’s Kitchen to step up their gay game with multiple LGBTQ bars and cultural events. In Brooklyn, neighborhoods like Bushwick, Park Slope, and Williamsburg are among some of the more gay-friendly areas with multiple LGBTQ-owned establishments and services.

For those looking to properly celebrate Pride Month, we picked the best events this year — whether you want to have some family time, party until dawn, or take the streets with thousands of other proud New Yorkers.
