We started by reinventing how moves are priced, introducing the industry’s first all-inclusive flat rate model, and backed it with clear service standards that ensure professionalism from start to finish. The History of FlatRate
FlatRate began in NYC in 1991, offering a unique, transparent pricing model. By 1997 FlatRate expanded to an operations facility in the Bronx and a sales office in Manhattan. It wouldn’t be long before branches in Florida and Washington DC would open, and in 2007 an overseas branch was added, all while receiving a Forbes Enterprise Award and Best of Citysearch award for “Best Mover”. In 2018 FlatRate became certified to move US Military personnel through the NYC office and in 2022 expanded the service in both Florida and California markets. Most recently, FlatRate has received GSA approval for household goods moving services – a unique and high-level accreditation.

Pre-Move Planning Standards
- We create a detailed questionnaire before your move to eliminate surprises on moving day.
- Clients are prepped two days in advance to avoid confusion or last-minute issues.
- We come prepared for the unexpected—extra boxes and materials are always on hand.
Pricing & Flexibility Standards
- We never surprise you with unexpected charges—if you have up to 10% more boxes than planned, we’ll handle it without extra fees.
- Our flat rate model is built around transparency, not hidden costs.
Mover & Foreman Training Standards
- All foremen have a minimum of 4–5 years of experience.
- Movers are trained on building access, elevator protocols, and handling specialty items.
- We use specialty boxes for TVs, wine, dishes, and glassware—and custom wood crates when needed.
Safety & Protection Standards
- Every truck is inspected and cleaned—bed bug checks are part of the routine.
- Walls and floors are protected during the move.
- Clean or new heavy-duty blankets are used for padding.
Light-colored sofas are shrink-wrapped and padded for extra protection.
Luxury Move Standards
- White-glove service includes enhanced protection, exclusive trucks, guaranteed delivery dates, and custom crating.
- Storage includes shrink-wrapping and wiping items to eliminate dust buildup.
Long-Distance Move Standards
- Exclusive trucks and guaranteed delivery dates available.
- If we’re delayed, we cover hotel or daily expenses.

Moving Day Standards
- Forman will walk the client through the move and answer all questions.
